Fellow Espresso Series 1

From a cold start, Espresso Series 1 is ready to brew or steam in about two minutes. Once heated, switching between pulling a shot and steaming milk is nearly instant, allowing you to move seamlessly from espresso to cappuccino without waiting.

Espresso Series 1 features our patented Boosted Boiler™ technology, designed to deliver the thermal stability of a commercial dual-boiler machine without the long heat-up time.

Instead of relying on one large boiler, Series 1 uses three independently controlled heating elements working together:

• A low thermal mass heater
• A mini boiler
• An independently heated group head

Water flows through each component in sequence, creating a stable “thermal bank” that delivers precise temperature control and consistent flow to the puck, similar to a commercial espresso machine.

Because it is technically a single-boiler machine, Espresso Series 1 cannot pull a shot and steam milk simultaneously. However, thanks to our patented Boosted Boiler™ technology, you can move from pulling a shot to steaming milk within seconds once the machine is fully heated.

Espresso Series 1 features a built-in hot water spout hidden beneath the group head. This allows you to dispense hot water instantly at your selected temperature and volume.

Whether you’re preparing tea or an Americano, Espresso Series 1 has you covered.

Intelligent Shot Feedback provides built-in guidance for better espresso extraction. If your shot runs too quickly or too slowly, the machine will suggest grind adjustments to help you dial in your espresso more easily.

Assisted Steaming simplifies milk texturing by reducing guesswork and making cleanup easier. The temperature-sensing steam wand:

• Automatically stops at your target temperature
• Auto-purges after use
• Can be customized for different milk types

An espresso profile is a set of brewing parameters — including temperature, pressure, and flow — that determines how water interacts with coffee during extraction.

On Espresso Series 1, profiles are designed around roast levels (light, medium, and dark) to provide a reliable starting point. Each profile automatically adjusts brewing behavior to match the selected coffee style.

Customers can use preset profiles for simplicity or customize and save their own profiles for greater control.

Yes. You can create and edit custom espresso profiles directly on the machine or through the Fellow app.

Adjustable variables include:

• Brewing: Pressure, temperature, and flow during pre-infusion, infusion, and ramp-down
• Steaming: Custom temperature settings or preset milk options
• Hot Water: Adjustable temperature and volume

Yes, Espresso Series 1 can remain powered on for extended periods. However, because it heats up in just two minutes, we recommend turning it off when not in use.

Boosted Boiler™ technology maintains thermal stability without overheating or requiring cooling flushes, unlike traditional heat exchanger systems.

Like any espresso machine, regular maintenance helps keep Espresso Series 1 performing at its best.

Backflushing

Backflushing removes built-up coffee oils from the group head and internal components to maintain consistent flavor and prevent clogs.

You will need:

• A backflush disc
• A cleaning tablet or espresso machine detergent

The process takes approximately five minutes and helps extend the life of your machine.

For step-by-step instructions, customers can reference Fellow’s Backflushing Guide on our website.

Shower Screen Cleaning

The shower screen sits beneath the group head and helps distribute water evenly over the coffee puck.

Over time, oils and fine coffee grounds can build up, potentially affecting extraction and flavor. We recommend periodically removing and cleaning the shower screen.

A complete cleaning walkthrough is available on Fellow’s website.

Descaling

Descaling removes limescale — mineral buildup that naturally forms inside the machine as water is heated.

Over time, scale buildup can restrict water flow and reduce heating efficiency. Regular descaling helps keep Espresso Series 1 running smoothly.

Use a liquid espresso machine descaler and follow the prompts in the Maintenance section of the Series 1 menu.

Yes. Espresso Series 1 is BPA- and PFAS-free and built with premium, food-safe materials throughout. Every material is carefully selected to support long-term performance, safety, and a premium feel.
